About Lucia Gallegos, RP
Hi!, ¡Hola! I’ve experienced a life full of many changes.
My Origins
This personal journey has allowed me to see transitions as a natural part of life.
As one of my favourite quotes says, “Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end.”
Born in Mexico and living in Toronto for over 14 years, I know the joys and challenges of moving to a new country. Leaving my family and friends behind and starting my life in Canada was a transition full of emotional highs and lows. This experience has taught me that sometimes tricky paths lead to beautiful destinations.
What Brings Me Bliss
I love hearing other people’s stories. I seek out comedy podcasts and enjoy making other people laugh. One of my other great loves is eating and tasting food. As a therapist doing her work, I include walking and meditation in my self-care routine. My daily intention is focused on building healthy boundaries. Part of this process has involved reconnecting with my anger and developing kindness to build my own fierce confidence.
My Profession
Before pursuing my psychology degree, I worked in Public Relations and Marketing, where I discovered that the most effective communication comes through listening to others with empathy and compassion. These insights and skills inspired me to change careers and become a therapist.
I bring my unique personal perspective and professional experience to my therapy practice. I am passionate about helping other women find their inner magic, meaning and purpose.
I also facilitate workshops empowering women to cultivate fierce self-compassion, emotional skills, and emotional awareness. Additionally, I have appeared on Canadian television shows, where I provide insights and engage in conversations aimed at supporting and connecting with the Feminine.
My Approach: Integrative, Trauma-Informed & Rooted in Compassion
As a trauma-informed therapist in Toronto, I offer therapy in English and Spanish to help you explore your emotions, understand patterns, and feel more connected to yourself.
Being trauma-informed means I recognize how past stress, loss, or disconnection can impact your body, emotions, and relationships today. I focus on creating safety, trust, and choice in each session—especially when strong emotions or body sensations arise. Feeling triggered is normal during healing, and my role is to help you stay grounded and supported as we integrate what surfaces.
I use an integrative approach because every person’s experiences, emotions, and nervous system are unique.
By blending evidence-based therapies—such:
Psychodynamic therapy (to understand deep patterns)
Somatic & polyvagal tools (for nervous system regulation)
CBT & Compassion-Focused Therapy (to calm your inner critic)
Mindfulness & inner-child work (for emotional healing)
Hormonal awareness (for PMS, perimenopause, or cycle-related emotional shifts)
Body-based interventions like breathwork, movement, and grounding.
Why I use an Integrative Approach?
I use an integrative approach because every person’s experiences, emotions, and nervous system are unique. By combining evidence-based therapies—I can tailor each session to your needs. This flexible approach helps you heal more effectively, regulate your nervous system, and build lasting emotional resilience.
What a Typical Trauma-Informed Therapy Session Looks Like in Toronto
Each session is designed to meet you where you are, combining creativity with evidence-based therapeutic tools to support your healing and emotional growth.
Regulating the nervous system first: Using somatic exercises, breathwork, or grounding techniques, we help you feel safe, present, and supported before exploring deeper emotions.
Exploring past experiences: Understanding patterns, triggers, and the impact of past stress or trauma on your thoughts, emotions, and relationships today.
Adding practical tools for present-day challenges: Coping strategies for anxiety, intrusive thoughts, emotional overwhelm, or relationship difficulties.
Creative, integrative exercises: Using projective cards, expressive techniques, and mind-body interventions to help you access and express what may be hard to articulate.
A core principle of my approach is trauma-informed care. I have personally experienced the difficulty of wanting to share thoughts and emotions but feeling triggered instead—where expressing myself only made me feel worse. This experience taught me how important it is to regulate the nervous system first, creating safety before integrating challenging emotions and memories.
Even when strong feelings or anxiety arise, sessions are designed to help you feel grounded, supported, and capable of processing what comes up. My integrative therapy approach combines mind, body, and creative expression to make your healing process safe, effective, and tailored to your unique needs.
